PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated electric wire that achieves a low dielectric constant while at the same time maintaining mechanical strength and flexibility.SOLUTION: The insulated electric wire has a linear conductor and an insulation layer coated onto an outer peripheral surface side of the conductor. The insulation layer has a sea phase and an island phase scattered in the sea phase to form a sea-island structure. The island phase includes pores and the porosity of the island phase is higher than that of the sea phase. The porosity of the island phase is preferably not less than 5 vol% to not more than 80 vol% and the porosity of the sea phase is preferably less than 5 vol%. The average size of the pores is preferably not less than 0.1 μm to not more than 10 μm. The ratio of the volume of the island phase to the total volume of the insulation layer is preferably not less than 20% to not more than 60%. The average thickness of the insulation layer is preferably not less than 30 μm to not more than 200 μm. The average size of the island phase is preferably not more than 50% of the average thickness of the insulation layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
