Method for shaping sheet metal building profiles

The method is used to form a profile with a three-dimensional surface, from a sheet-metal blank (10). The latter is clamped on at least one edge region (15), and a first shaping tool (17) is pressed against one of its sides. A second shaping tool (18) is arranged on the other side, and both tools are moved against the blank until they both lie on the latter, and have a correct separation from one another. At least one of the tools is moved linearly relative to the blank, so that the latter is shaped between both tools in a first layer. One or more of the tools is then offset by a fixed amount relative to this layer, and the shaping and offsetting steps are repeated in order to create shaped layers which are offset from each other, until the required three- dimensional shape is achieved.
