摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of mutually jointing glass members so designed that the joint surface of a first member such as of glass with a metallic film formed on part or the whole thereof is provided with a SiO2 film followed by subjecting a second glass member to hot press contact against the above joint surface at each specific temperature and pressure to ensure the joint surface not to be debonded easily and the metallic film not to be broken. SOLUTION: First, a SiO2 film 14 is formed, pref. by CVD technique, on at least part of the joint surface of a first member such as of glass (e.g. a glass member 10) selected from pref. glass, sapphire, spinel, ceramics, silicon and group I to V compound semiconductors with part or the whole joint surface thereof provided with a metallic film (e.g. Cr film 12). Subsequently, a second glass member 20 is subjected to hot press contact against the above joint surface at each specified temperature and pressure; wherein the second glass member 20 is made of glass containing one or more alkali elements and differs in thermal expansion coefficient from the first member by -1.0×10<-6> to +1.0×10<-6> / deg.C.
