PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive substance suitable for a sensitive body by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified Schiff base as an effective component. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contg. a Schiff base represented by formula I (where R1 is H, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy, and each of R2 and R3 is optionally substituted alkyl or allyl) as an effective component is formed on an electrically conductive support such as a sheet or foil of Al or other metal or paper treated to provide electric conductivity. A condensation resin such as polyamide or polycarbonate or a vinyl polymer such as polyvinyl ketone or polyacrylamide is used as a binder. The resulting electrophotographic sensitive body satisfies all of essential characteristics such as sensitivity and electrostatic chargeability necessary for an electrophotographic sensitive body. Since the photosensitive layer is an org. layer, the sensitive body is flexible, is easily manufactured at a low cost, and has superior durability. |
