PURPOSE:To manufacture pottery having a small thermal expansion coefficient and a low water absorption percentage. CONSTITUTION:This raw material mixture contains 10 to 60wt.% clay and 90 to 40wt.% feldspar consisting of anorthite and potash feldspar and/or albite, wherein the content of anorthite in the raw material mixture is 5 to 50wt.%. This raw material mixture is molded into a molding and the molding is dried and thereafter, fired to manufacture a pottery product. By mixing the anorthite in a prescribed proportion, the thermal expansion coefficient of the pottery thus manufactured is reduced and also its water absorption percentage maintained at a sufficiently low level. Accordingly, the objective high quality pottery having excellent dimensional stability is efficiently manufactured in a high yield. |
