PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal-halide lamp of a convex geometry shape which reduces color dispersion, especially, in one emitting a neutral white-color light. SOLUTION: A second group contains either Mg halide or Yb halide in a ratio of at least 15 mol% to the second group components. Ca halide can be an additive component to the second group alternatively. In such a case, a ratio of the entire second group to metal a halide content is 55 mol% at most.
