The mechanism comprises a device (30) sensible to shocks arranged between a fixed point of the chassis (C) and the track rod (15) which can be displaced relative to the chassis in the event of violent shock to the road wheels. This device comprises a centrifugal clutch with two rotating discs and a rotating friction brake controlled by the second disc of the clutch. The device transmits the displacement of the track rod when the shock is less than a predetermined value, and prevents track rod displacement when the shock is greater than the predetermined value. .
