PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the unnecessary waiting time of a user spent until a polygon mirror is started, even under low-temperature environment by continuously generating a rotation start signal longer than prescribed timing by using a start signal generation means, when a rotation prolonging signal is generated by a prolonging signal generation means. SOLUTION: When printing processing is instructed, a rotation instruction signal is transmitted to a polygon motor driver 602 in a prescribed timing by a CPU 604, so as to instruct that a polygon motor 601 is rotated on a cycle previously decided and required for forming an image. Thereafter, when polygon motor 'ready' information is received from a ready deciding part 603, image- forming processing is started. When normal image forming processing is finished and the need for rotating the motor 601 is eliminated, temperature is referred to temperature information from a temperature detection part 605 by the CPU 604. When temperature is higher than a prescribed temperature, the signal for instructing the rotation of the polygon motor is stopped. When it is lower than the prescribed temperature, the motor 601 is rotated on the cycle which is slower than the normal cycle and stopped after prescribed time elapses. |
