PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor of a permanent magnet synchronous motor of which a permanent magnet is easily and rigidly fixed to a rotor core, with a smaller outside diameter of the rotor, for high speed and low inertia. SOLUTION: A rotor 1 of a permanent magnet synchronous motor is provided with a plurality of permanent magnets 3 to a rotor core 2, comprising a laminate of electromagnetic steel sheet or a block of electromagnetic material, for synchronous rotation. In the rotor core 2, a plurality of embedded slots 6 which, opened on the outer peripheral surface, is excavated a partial cylinder with its radial cross section being a partial ring are formed in circumferential direction, with a magnetic path 7 provided to an adjoining slot. In the embedded slots 6, the permanent magnet 3, similar to the slot in shape, is attached by using an adhesive to expose the opening by making the outside resemble that of the rotor core 2.
