PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplex optical recording head which is simple and can be downsized. SOLUTION: A photonic crystal is used as an optical demultiplexing element used for a wavelength multiplex optical recording head which writes and reads information by using plural wavelengths to and from an optical recording medium is used. This photonic crystal has the extremely large wavelength dispersion as compared with the conventional spectral elements and therefore the downsizing of the optical head is made possible.
