A double damping flywheel and a damping member for the double damping flywheel are provided to absorb a large amount of energy. The double damping flywheel comprises a primary inertia flywheel(10) fixed to the end of an engine shaft to transfer a starter crown(12) along the outer circumference, a secondary inertia flywheel(14) supported and guided by a ball bearing(18) when rotating on an axial attachment of the primary flywheel, a torsion damper fixed between the two flywheels and provided with a circumferential spring(22) fitted to a groove or a ring-shaped recess of the primary flywheel partially and a circumferential recess(24) of a ring-shaped plate(26) partially, and plural shock absorbing end stops(42) as damping members placed between ends of two continuous recesses of the ring-shaped plate, and, the ring-shaped plate and the secondary flywheel to absorb each displacement completely. The damping member for the double damping flywheel is composed of elastomeric materials partially having heat resistance of 125‹C and over and oil expansibility of 60% and below according to the ASTM D2000 specifications.
