PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering the catalyst and the solvent in aldol condensation using proline as the catalyst to reuse them. SOLUTION: The objective method comprises aldol condensation of a ketone of the general formula (1) [R<1> is a univalent organic group; and R<2> is a (substituted) alkyl group] with an aldehyde of the general formula (2) (R<3> is a univalent organic group) in the presence of proline, wherein the reaction is performed in the presence of an ionic liquid so as to obtain the aldol reaction products of the formulas (3) and (4). (R<4> is such a group that R<2> is equivalent to CH2 -R<4> ; and R<1> to R<3> are each the same as the above mentioned one). |
