The method of positioning tools (1-7) comprises a first operation for moving all tools into a ready area and a second operation for moving tools into a positioning area, the second operation comprising the steps of moving a tool to a point of origin and of moving the tool from the point of origin by a distance which is equal to a desired distance between the tool and a following tool.
