PURPOSE:To save the electric power of a recording and reproducing device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer 23 which is an intra-surface magnetized film at room temp. and turns to a perpendicularly magnetized film in a prescribed temp. region above room temp., a magnetic layer 24 having the Curie temp. of room temp. or above and a magnetic layer 25 which is the perpendicularly magnetized film from room temp. up to the Curie temp. are successively laminated on a substrate 21. The Curie temp. of the magnetic layer 24 is set the temp. lower than the Curie temp. of the magnetic layer 25. As a result, information recorded in high density on the magnetic layer 25, i.e., the information written in the parts smaller than the light spot at the time of reproducing, is reproduced without an auxiliary magnetic field generator for initializing the reading out layer and the recording of the information on the magnetic layer 25 with a small external magnetic field is possible.
