PURPOSE: A tri-linear texture mapping accelerator is provided to accelerate a tri-linear texture mapping process by using two SRAMs for storing two MIPmap. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a texture memory(20), a frame buffer(30), and a raster engine(10). The laster engine(10) comprises a U,V address generator(500), two SRAMs(100,600), a texel address generator(300), and a blending portion(400). The SRAMs(100,600) store MIPmap more or less than a size of a three-dimensional object. The texel address generator(300) receives U,V addresses corresponding to pixels and generates addresses for neighboring 8 texels. The blending portion(400) calculates final color values of the 8 texels and outputs the calculated value the frame buffer(30).
