FILTER ELEMENT AND FILTER FOR PURIFICATION OF EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element which is excellent in durability and in the collecting efficiency of PM (particulate matter) in exhaust gas and which can be regenerated at low temperature by an easy method. SOLUTION: The filter element is composed of an inorganic fiber matrix and a binder material consisting of oxide particles which fix the inorganic fibers to one another. Further, the surfaces of the matrix and the binder material are at least partially coated with an oxidation catalyst.
