Low cost printed circuit plug and socket - uses opposed contact geometry in double-sided plug housing to minimise production cost of circuit base plate

The plug and socket connector for a printed circuit board (35) has the socket part (3) open at the bottom. It can be attached to the board by latches (36,38) engaging in openings (37,39). The plug has external resilient contacts so that when inserted into the socket, the contacts press against the tracks (34). Alternative fasteners produce a double socket, allowing insertion of a plug from either side of the board.
