PURPOSE:To enable the efficient decomposition of ozone over a long period at a low pressure drop while preventing channeling by treating materials. CONSTITUTION:The treating material 1 is constituted of the corrugated sheet treating material 1a consisting of the sintered body of active carbon and the flat plate sheet treating material 1b. Flow passages 2 are formed between these treating materials. A manganese oxide, such as manganese dioxide, and an alkali metal compd., such as potassium hydroxide, are deposited on the sheet treating materials 1a, 1b in order to efficiently decompose the ozone while the consumption of the active carbon is suppressed. The treating materials 1a, 1b are obtd. by pressurizing and molding, under heating, a mixture composed of the active carbon, such as active carbon fibers, and a sinterable binder of a fiber form, etc., at need and sintering the molding. The density of the sintered body is 0.4 to 1.0g/cm<2> and the thickness about 0.05 to 5mm. The amt. of the manganese oxide to be deposited is 0.5 to 30wt.% of the weight of the active carbon and the amt. of the alkali metal compd. to be deposited is 0.01 to 5wt.% of the weight of the active carbon. |
