<p>There is provided an inexpensive display apparatus (9) of high image quality which conducts video signal display of high resolution by using liquid crystal panels of low resolution. Four liquid crystal panels corresponding to R, G and B basic pixels (100) as well as W (white) pixels (200) are used. The additional W pixels are shifted from the R, G and B basic pixels so as to form a quincunx pattern, and optical combining is conducted. As for low resolution information, full color display using basic pixels is conducted. As for high resolution information exceeding this, only luminance information (Yh) is displayed by using white pixels obtained by combining the R, G and B basic pixels and using the additional W pixels. <IMAGE></p> |
