Cotton fibres opt. blended with other fibres e.g. polyester and in the form of filaments, threads, woven fabrics etc. are (i) conventionally bleached with H2O2 or hypochlorite and (ii) simultaneously, subsequently or prior bleached with O2 contg. gas in alkaline soln. e.g. at 75-115 deg.C for 0.25-hrs at pH10-12 under a partial O2 pressure of 0.1-0.6Mpa. Optical brightness can be added in (i). Gas in (ii) is pref. O2 contg. upto 6vol% O2. |
