PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform such a shutdown processing as power interruption processing can be performed by carrying out data save processing to a nonvolatile storage upon power interruption without providing a dedicated power control key on the operating panel.

SOLUTION: At the time of controlling power supply of a printer comprising an operating panel 1012 for setting a desired print mode by means of a plurality of keys, a power supply control section 22 makes a decision whether a specific power supply control has been designated or not by means of the plurality of keys provided on the operating panel 1012. If a specific power supply control has been designated, power interruption processing for an external memory 14 is started.
