PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by alternately driving two magnetic heads, exciting only a reproducing circuit corresponding to the operating magnetic head with power and stopping a recording circuit at the time of reproducing, and at the time of recording, stopping the reproducing circuits and exciting only the recording circuit with power. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 1, 2 are alternately driven to operate only either one magnetic head sliding on a magnetic tape with contact, and out of reproducing circuits 34, 35 for reproducing respective outputs from the magnetic heads 1, 2, either one corresponding to the operating magnetic head is excited with power. At the time of reproducing, the recording circuit 45 is stopped and power supply is interrupted. At the time of recording, only the magnetic head coming into contact with the magnetic tape out of the two magnetic heads 1, 2 is alternately operated, a signal to be recorded is applied to the operated magnetic head by a recording circuit 45 to record the signal in the magnetic tape and the reproducing circuits 34, 35 are stopped. Consequently, power consumption can be reduced. |
