The present invention relates to a photo managing device and a method thereof. Particularly, the photo managing device is included in a mobile communication terminal. The photo managing device comprises: a photo launcher which is executed when a picture photographing event is sensed, displays photographed pictures on a display unit, and acquires categorization standard information relating to the photographed pictures; a gallery unit which displays the stored pictures on the display unit, based on the categorization standard information; and a location based displaying unit which searches pictures corresponding to location information and displays the searched pictures on the display unit. The objective of the present invention is to provide the photo managing device and the method thereof, capable of effectively and conveniently managing photos by automatically driving the photo launcher, which can acquire categorization standard information after sensing an event when taking photos, and acquiring information on categorization standards.
