A rotary pump (22) that has zero clearance or no end play is disclosed. Resilient members (44) are positioned against a surface of a flat disk (34) or ring plate to reduce end play. The ring plate (34) is positioned in the space between the pump rotor (22) and the inner wall (42) of the pump (10) and is urged against the pump rotor by the resilient members (44). The ring plate acts much like a washer, biased against the rotor by the resilient members. In effect, the space typically reserved for end play, is taken up by the ring plate and resilient members. Any wear to the moving parts of the pump that creates the end play is immediately adjusted for by the resiliency of the resilient members. |
