PURPOSE: A finite impulse response filter and a finite-impulse-response filtering method are provided which has a memory with a reduced capacity, decreases the size of hardware, and easily adjusts a clock rate controlling the filter to control the capacity of a ROM. CONSTITUTION: A finite impulse response filter generates an address for accessing a memory using two delay lines when data over-sampled m times during one symbol section is inputted. Each of the delay lines is divided into two parts to generate two memory addresses. Each of the generated address is sent to a storage divided into at least two or four. Accordingly, filter output values corresponding to the generated memory addresses are selected from a plurality of filter output values stored in the storage to be outputted. In case where the memory addresses are generated using the two delay lines, the capacity of required memory can be reduced.
