Use of a membrane bioreactor for the purification of weakly organically contaminated, salt-containing raw water, where a specialized biocoenosis or biotic community is adapted to special boundary conditions (less organic contamination and high salt concentration), and the water purified in such a way is deionized by the osmosis process.
