Antibacterial aqueous suspensions comprise calcium (-) (cis-1,2-epoxypropyl)-phosphonate (0.5 to 50% by weight), sodium carboxy methyl cellulose (0.05-1.0%), lecithin (0.1 to 1.0%) and polysorbate 80 (0.05 to 5%). Other antibiotics, e.g. erythromycin, benzathine penicillin, chloramphenicol and calcium tetracycline and other salts of the phosphonic acid, e.g. the mono- and di-sodium, monosodium monopotassium, magnesium, aluminium and amine salts may also be present.
