PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low cost coating apparatus, with which the vaporization of a solvent from a slide surface is suppressed when an organic solvent type coating liquid consisting essentially of a solvent having lower boiling point than that of water is applied by a simultaneous laminating slide type coater, and a uniform coated surface is secured without lowering the productivity, and a method of manufacturing a recording material using the apparatus. SOLUTION: This simultaneous laminating slide type coater 1 for applying >=2 coating layers 7 simultaneously is constituted of >=2 slits 102a-c each for separately extruding the coating liquid on a belt like supporting body 6 to be continuously conveyed, in which the surface opposite to the surface to be coated is held by a back roll 5, and >=3 bars 101a-d constituting the slits, a means 3 for cooling the slide surface and a cover covering the slide surface, the side surface and the back surface are provided.
