A centre-loaded pressure roll is in the form of a sleeve 18 which is secured to a centre block 22 against any relative movement. Projecting from the block are springs in the form of metal rods 16 (which may be integral with the block) having their ends projecting beyond the ends of the sleeve. Fixed pads 12 bear on the rod ends, to cause them to act as journals, and flexing them so as to urge the sleeve (which may be coated) into uniform contact with two parallel rolls having fixed axes. <IMAGE> |
