The method involves analyzing an address sequence in a first format based on a first numbering plan identifier (NPLI1) and telecommunications range identifier (TON1) to convert an address used by a first telecommunications system into a unique address for use in a second system at a lowest possible level and constructing the sequence in the second format on the basis of the converted address with a second numbering plan identifier (NPI2) and range identifier (TON2). The method involves analyzing an address sequence in a first format based on a first numbering plan identifier and telecommunications range identifier to convert an address used by a first telecommunications system into a unique address for use in a second telecommunications system at a lowest possible level and constructing the address character sequence in the second format on the basis of the converted address with a second numbering plan identifier and telecommunications range identifier.
