METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PLAYING OF DRM CONTENTS IN A PORTABLE TERMINAL

A method and an apparatus for regenerating DRM(Digital Rights Management) contents in a portable terminal are provided to improve the convenience of users and encourage users to purchase DRM contents by enabling a user to previously confirm certain DRM contents. If a user makes a request to regenerate certain DRM contents stored in a portable terminal, the portable terminal confirms the head information of the DRM contents and judges whether the user is authorized to regenerate the DRM contents(S301,S303). In case it is judged that the user is not authorized to regenerate the DRM contents, the portable terminal checks whether a sample period for the DRM contents exists and whether regeneration for the sample period is permitted(S307). In case the sample period exists and regeneration for the sample period is permitted, the portable terminal acquires start time information and end time information for the sample period(S309,S311). Then the portable terminal executes the regeneration of the sample period according to the acquired start and end time information(S313).
