<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a moving vector with high reliability by dividing a supplied picture signal into a block with a definite size and increasing the size of the block when the moving vector with high reliability is not found in the block in case of detecting the moving vector as to each block. CONSTITUTION:When an evaluation to detect the moving vector is calculated in a part where the brightness change in the picture is comparatively flat normally, the value is fluctuated largely due to the noise effect included in the picture signal and lots of vectors with small evaluation exist in addition to the correct moving vector. Thus, the vector giving the least evaluation does not always give a vector representing correctly the movement of an object on the picture. On the other hand, when the size of the block is increased, since the noise has no correlation between adjacent picture elements, the effect of the noise is relatively reduced. Thus, the evaluation of the retrieved vector is made flat and it is possible to detect the accurate moving vector representing the movement of the object correctly.</p> |
