PURPOSE:To provide the stereoscopic display device which can rapidly calculate the phases of animation and can display stereoscopic images at the time of displaying the stereoscopic images in accordance with plural two-dimensional images. CONSTITUTION:This stereoscopic display device has a phase calculating section 13 which calculates the phase distribution from the regions long in a horizontal direction obtd. by perpendicularly dividing the plural two-dimensional images having a parallax in the horizontal direction and a phase expressing section 14 which converts reproducing light to the optical wave fronts of the phase distribution in accordance with the phase distribution calculated by this phase calculating section 13. The stereoscopic images are displayed by the optical wave fronts converted by this phase expressing section 14.
