The device has a positioning acoustic signal transmitter-receiver generating n measures of position. A restoration unit that restores the device movement delivers the signals having a measure of an altitude of the device. A processing unit (11) receives set of measures of altitude to determine a position of a submarine apparatus (1). A transmit unit (12) sends the position of the apparatus in and/or out of water. The transmitter-receiver is a system of ultra short base line (USBL) and n is a number of submarine apparatuses.
