The invention relates to a method for separating a mixture by separation at sub-ambient temperature, in which a first heat pump (31) making use of the magnetocaloric effect exchanges heat between a cold source at sub-ambient temperature and a heat source at sub-ambient temperature, thus providing at least a portion of the separation energy, and a second heat pump (21) making use of the magnetocaloric effect exchanges heat between a cold source (15) at sub-ambient temperature and a heat source at ambient temperature, thus providing at least a portion of the cold necessary to maintain the heat balance of the method, the separation being carried out in a set of columns comprising at least a main column (19) supplied by the mixture to be separated and a column reduced to a rectifying section (103), the first cold source and the first heat source being directly or indirectly thermally connected to the main column (19), and the second heat pump (21) directly or indirectly condensing a fluid originating from the column reduced to a rectifying section (103). |
