This invention concerns a device for the application of glue on objects, especially labels, which in a labelling machine shall be transferred to and affixed to objects which are to be marked. The novelty aspect of the invention exists in the fact that the device comprises a feed roller (13) with a perforated, central tube (14) which is connected to a supply of glue (15), and a layer of sponge-rubber (16) which extends around its periphery, said sponge-rubber layer (16) being in abutment with a transfer roller (17) which is disposed substantially above the feed roller (13), and which at its side lies up against an application roller (18) and can transfer glue from said layer to said application roller. By means of this device, it is possible to apply a thin and very uniform layer of glue to the back of labels which are to be affixed firmly to an object which is to be marked.
