<p num="1"><br/><br/><br/>Method for shrinking a heat shrink film wrapping (2) placed around a stack of <br/>items (1), with at least one shrinking device (14), which can be made to move <br/>vertically on a frame (11) and is intended for shrinking the heat shrink film <br/>wrapping (2) by heating, wherein the heat shrink film wrapping (2) protrudes <br/>on the upper side at least beyond the upper edge of the stack of items (1) for <br/>the upper shrink formation and arranged on the upper side is a top sheet film <br/>(6), which is welded to the heat shrink film wrapping (2), wherein firstly the <br/>hot gases (30) rising up along the sides of the stack of items (1) are <br/>diverted inwards, in a direction (32) extending at least approximately <br/>parallel to the upper side of the stack of items (1), by a heat diverting and <br/>pressing device (15), which is arranged above the stack of items (1) and is <br/>intended for preheating and inwardly folding over the overhang (9) of the heat <br/>shrink film wrapping (2) and for preheating the top sheet film (6) in the <br/>region of the upper side, and then the layers of the overhang (9) of the heat <br/>shrink film wrapping (2) and of the top sheet film (6) that are now lying one <br/>on top of the other are joined, at least in the region of the upper side, by <br/>pressing the not yet completely cooled layers of the heat shrink film wrapping <br/>(2) and the top sheet film (6) onto one another by means of the heat diverting <br/>and pressing device.
