<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate the distinguishing of an equipment fault from a line fault and to eliminate the need for the provision of a monitoring line by testing a repeater remotely. CONSTITUTION:In the case of testing a repeater 2, a maintenance test equipment 1 sends a code inherent in the repeater 2 from a code transmitter 11. When the repeater 2 uses a code detector 21 to detect the inherent code, the test mode is attained and a switch 28 is changed over to the position of B. Then a test path is set and a test data is sent from a test data generator 22 and an error rate is measured by an error rate measuring circuit 23. After a predetermined time elapses, the switch 28 is changed over to the position A by the control of the code detector 21 and the result of measurement is transferred to the maintenance test equipment 1 by an incoming transmission circuit 27. Thus, whether the fault is a fault of a repeater or a line fault is distinguished and it is implemented without need of any monitoring line.</p> |
