<p>An aromatic polycarbonate obtained by subjecting an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic diester to melt polycondensation in the presence of a catalyst comprising a combination of at least either of a basic nitrogen compound and a basic phosphorus compound with an alkali metal compound by the transesterification method (melt polymerization method) is regulated so as to have a fluorescence spectrum in which the fluorescence intensity thereof at an excitation light wavelength of 465 nm is 4.0*10-3 or lower relative to that of a reference at an excitation light wavelength of 320 nm. The aromatic polycarbonate has satisfactory stability to discoloration, especially when stored in the form of chips at room temperature in the air.</p> |
