The four-stroke IC engine consists of two V-formation six-cylinder units (1,2) arranged symmetrically. The cylinder blocks and crankcases are rigidly fastened to each other or the two units may have a common cylinder block and crankcase (3). The crankshafts (4) of the two units are in line with each other and are connected by bevel gears (6,7,8).
