A fabricated elongate metal element which is employable as a framing member in a construction and/or as a strand wire fence or like support post/standard or batten/dropper, the element (1) being of uniform cross section throughout its length and comprising an angular section longitudinal main medial channel part (2) with angular section longitudinal wing channel parts (3) integrally formed therewith one each side of said main medial channel part (2) and opening in the opposing direction thereto; the main medial and opposite side wing channel parts (2, 3) being in parallel relationship, with each of the inner longitudinal side walls (3a) of the wing channel parts (3) being an extension of the respective opposite side walls (2a) of the medial channel part (2), and the base portions (3b) of the wing channel parts (3) being parallel to the base portion (2b) of the medial channel part (2); the width of said opposite side walls (2a) of the medial channel part (2) each being at least one and one half times the width of the opposite outer side walls (3c) of the wing channel parts (3) and the opposite side walls (2a) of at least the medial channel part (2) being splayed outwardly relative to and from the base portion (2b) thereof. As a fence or like post/standard or batten/dropper, the element (1) medial channel part base portion (2b) and adjacent portions of the side walls (2a) are provided with a plurality of transverse slots (6) each of which is arranged to receive a strand wire (5), and there being fixing or locking means (7, 8) to secure the wires against disengagement from the slots (6). |
