PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway vehicle traveling position detection system capable of shortening data processing time by reading identifier information to determine a specific track section on which a railway vehicle is traveling among specific tracks.SOLUTION: A railway vehicle traveling position detection system includes: specific track determination means for reading the identifier information of an identifier installed near a track to determine a specific track section on which a railway vehicle is traveling among specific tracks; and traveling data storage means for storing actually measured traveling data when the railway vehicle travels on a plurality of track networks. The railway vehicle traveling position detection system reads out actually measured travelling data within a specific track including the specific track determined by the specific track determination means from the traveling data storage means, and compares with current traveling data detected during currently traveling, and accordingly the traveling position of the own vehicle is detected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 22
