Further failures on subsequent patrols are again registered. When there has been no yarn for some time or for a predetermined number of patrols an indication is given to the operator or to the supervisor and, if appropriate, the machine is stopped. The cost and complication of roving stops and associated sensors is avoided without running the danger of roving wraps.
