The present invention relates to a lock that has two operation modes (locked, unlocked) and is designed for use with a key and an execution device. This lock comprises a key as well as a locking mechanism. The working section of the key comprises a key code in the shape of co-ordinates of points on the coding surface and/or co-ordinates indicating the location of the poles of permanent magnets. This code corresponds to the lock code which is made in the shape of coding impressions and corresponds to the co-ordinates of the intersection between groove axial lines and the beginning of connecting-section axial lines. The locking mechanism comprises a body having an operation-mode switch as well as movable control housings mounted therein, wherein said housings are kinetically connected together and capable of kinematic connection with the key. The housings have a member mounted thereon for connection with the execution device and comprise coding impressions that bear the lock code and consist of grooves and connecting sections. The body further comprises spring-loaded rods having pins mounted thereon for interaction with the coding impressions. The spring-loaded rods are capable of rectilinear displacement and comprise tips or permanent magnets for interaction with the working section of the key. The working section of the key comprises longitudinal grooves having a shape that corresponds to that of protrusions formed on the central openings of each control housing. This system ensures the angular fixation of the housings relative to the key during operation of the lock. The spring-loaded rod comprises a shutter and is mounted in a channel formed in the control housing for interaction with a recess in the lock body. The shutter is mounted within an opening that connects the channel to the recess between the protrusions of said control housing, while a corresponding groove is formed on the working section of the key.
