PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated article which has a coating film, that is formed on a base material comprising sapphire glass, exhibits excellent adhesiveness to the base material, and has antifouling properties, water/oil repellency and scratch resistance.SOLUTION: The surface-coated article has: a base material 1 comprising sapphire glass; an undercoat film 2 which is formed on the base material 1 and contains silicon oxide; and fluorine-containing polymeric compound films 4, 5 each of which is formed on the surface of the undercoat film 2 and consists of a fluorine-based silane coupling agent. The undercoat film 2 has preferably 20 nm or smaller thickness. The sapphire glass is excellent in scratch resistance and wear resistance since the sapphire glass has the hardness higher than that of glass and the sapphire glass is hardly broken since the sapphire glass has the strength higher than that of glass. The surface-coated article has the antifouling coating film excellent in adhesiveness on the surface of the base material 1 consisting of such the sapphire glass. When the thickness of the undercoat film 2 is 20 nm or smaller, a pressing mark or a scratch is hardly formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
