PURPOSE:To surely prevent a film-out phenomenon and to disperse exhaust gas to an outer peripheral part by allowing the end surface on the exhaust inflow side of the metal catalyst carrier of a catalytic converter to protrude in a conical shape and flatly collapsing the outer peripheral part on an outflow side. CONSTITUTION:A metal corrugated plate 33 and a metal flat plate 35 are superposed one upon another and wound in a multiple state to form a metal catalyst carrier 31. The end surface on the exhaust gas inflow side of the metal catalyst carrier 31 is allowed to protrude toward the exhaust gas inflow side in a conical shape to form a protruding part 37. The outer peripheral part on the exhaust gas outflow side of the metal catalyst carrier 31 is collapsed flatly to form a flat part 41. By this simple constitution, a film-out phenomenon can be surely prevented and, at the same time, exhaust gas can be surely dispersed to the outer peripheral part of the metal catalyst carrier 31. |
