PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily disassemble a laminated building material tatami mat bed by pulling out sewing thread from the building material tatami mat bed without cutting the sewing thread. SOLUTION: This tatami mat disassembling apparatus is provided with a base for placing a laminated body of the building material tatami mat bed 4 including a back face material 44 in a chain-stitched lowermost layer, and a chucking member 3 for gripping the end part of the back face material of the building material tatami mat bed 4 placed on the base. The end part of the back face material 44 corresponding to the stitch end side of chain stitches is gripped by the chucking member 3, and the building material tatami mat bed 4 and/or the chucking member 3 are relatively moved to separate the back face material 44 together with the sewing thread 45.
