A method for selecting a broadcasting system in a multi-process TV receiver supporting a multi-broadcasting system is provided to check the broadcasting type of a received broadcasting signal to set the broadcasting system of the multi-process TV receiver suitably for the checked broadcasting type automatically, thereby displaying the initial screen of received broadcasting correctly to improve the convenience of a user. A method for selecting a broadcasting system in a multi-process TV receiver supporting a multi-broadcasting system comprises the following steps of: detecting whether a broadcasting signal is received through a tuner(S300); checking the field frequency of the detected broadcasting signal and determining whether the detected broadcasting signal is an NTSC(National Television System Committee) or PAL(Phase Alternation Line) broadcasting signal(S302,S306,S308,S310); selecting an NTSC broadcasting system as the type of a broadcasting receiver in correspondence to the checked broadcasting signal when the detected broadcasting signal is the NTSC broadcasting signal(S304); selecting a PAL broadcasting system as the type of the broadcasting receiver in correspondence to the checked broadcasting signal when the detected broadcasting signal is the PAL broadcasting signal(S312,S314); and outputting the broadcasting signal received by the selected broadcasting system on a broadcasting screen(S318).
