PURPOSE: To enhance a first printing time by providing two sets of start and control coils in a scanner control and performing control always keeping a non-stop state during a standby/sleep period. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 114 turns a DRV signal ON to allow a semicondutor laser unit 107 to emit laser beam to irradiate a polygon mirror 101 with the laser beam. A motor driver 117 is turned ON in order to rotate a scanner motor and a current is supplied to a COIL 1 for a bootstrap to apply pulses to start the scanner motor. The status signal RDY from the scanner motor showing the transfer from a start region to a control region transmits an H-state to the CPU. When the CPU senses the H-state, the motor driver 117 turns a control COIL 2 ON immediately to apply pulses and the oscillation of the COIL 1 for the bootstrap is stopped to supply a weak current to perform the braking of the COIL 1 to perform printing control. |
