PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an adverse effect due to temperature decrease of a heat roller, by altering the position of a heater when successively fixing a large number of sheets and by heating the heat roller immediately before the position where each sheet is nipped. SOLUTION: The heater 28 is eccentrically arranged in the heat roller 27 of the fixing device 26 so that heating is carried out on the upstream side from the nip part between the pressure roller 29 and the heat roller 27. The roller is heated immediately before the position where each sheet with a toner image on is nipped. Thus, the heating temperature in the nip is kept constant.
